Vehicle Customs Clearance

UK to Ireland vehicle imports — customs cleared, VRT-ready

Importing a vehicle from the UK or Northern Ireland to the Republic of Ireland requires a customs declaration before you can book your NCTS inspection and pay VRT. We handle the full customs clearance process for cars, vans, motorhomes, agricultural machinery and commercial vehicles.

We lodge the AIS import declaration, calculate customs duty (where applicable) and VAT at import, issue the customs clearance slip you need for the National Car Testing Service (NCTS), and guide you through the VRT process via Revenue's myAccount or ROS portal. Northern Ireland vehicles registered before 1 January 2021 follow a simplified procedure — we'll tell you exactly what applies to yours.

How It Works

  1. 1Send V5C logbook, purchase invoice and ferry/shipping details
  2. 2We calculate customs duty and import VAT (if applicable)
  3. 3AIS declaration lodged — customs clearance slip issued
  4. 4Book NCTS inspection and pay VRT to register your vehicle
